Check Out Our New Sustainability Resources for Study Abroad Students
If you’re sustainability-minded, then we know that you might have complicated thoughts or questions about studying abroad and your impact on the planet. The Office of Education Abroad acknowledges that even just thinking about the way your travel will affect others is a huge first step, and we invite any conscientious travelers to visit our new webpage on “Sustainability and Study Abroad.” We know that we likely can’t answer all of the questions you might have about the interplay between sustainability and travel, but we hope that the resources and ideas on that page can help guide you during your time abroad (and beyond!).
The webpage aims to:
- Clarify the meaning of sustainable travel (while the natural environment is a big part of sustainability, it isn’t quite the whole picture!)
- Provide easy action items and ideas to help you be a more sustainable student abroad
- Offer food for thought surrounding the concept of an “individual carbon footprint”
- Share sustainability initiatives in other countries
- Introduce you to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, if you aren’t already familiar
If you know of any small- or large-scale sustainability initiatives being implemented around the globe, we invite you to share them with us at EdAbroad@charlotte.edu so that we can add them to our resource list.
See you abroad, Niners!
